Lord of the Sabbath: Published in a Print Journal!

Writing (as with any kind of art) can take a long time, but publishing takes so much longer!

I wrote an essay more than two years ago of which I was really proud. The Lord of the Sabbath: How Jesus’ Lordship Offers Rest recounts my experiences developing a practice of Sabbath and what I learned from this habit. I also consider how Jesus naming himself “Lord of the Sabbath” transforms a habitual day of rest from a restriction into a tangible expression of the gospel.

Over the last two years, I submitted the essay to six different publishers (taking some time for further revisions after the first few rejections), and last October, I found out it was accepted for publication for a print journal through Solid Food Press. The journal was initially planned to come out in January, but for a variety of reasons, publication was delayed. I just got my contributor copy this week! It is hand bound and the book itself is beautifully and creatively designed to fit the theme “Paradoxa”.

Solid Food Press offers some digital content for free, but this issue is only available through purchase. My contribution is one of my favorite essays I’ve written, and I would love for more people to be able to read it and chew on its ideas! If you are interested in supporting this small Christian publishing company, you can order your own print copy ($42) or digital copy ($12) here.

If the cost is prohibitive, but you live locally and are interested in reading my essay, please let me know and I would be happy to lend you my print copy! I would love for as many people to have the opportunity to read it as possible.
