We are in the peak of busy season for my job, so it has been difficult to write creatively in my free time. However, I am excited to share that a personal narrative I wrote in the spring and submitted to a podcast was accepted and just aired this week!
The Habit Podcast (Conversations with Writers about Writing) had a Leaving Home Stories series this summer. The episode featuring my narrative is here. I read my story about when I moved to Mexico, and my room didn’t feel like home. I also consider how my frugal upbringing contrasted with a roommate I had there, an art teacher. After I read the narrative, there is a very brief interview with the podcast host, Jonathan Rogers. My narrative and interview are in the first 20 minutes of the episode.

As a bonus, my work was unexpectedly featured on a website this summer. I found out that a cheap (possibly AI generated) website chose to feature my quilted house robe as a project in a list of quilted clothing projects. They suggested my project was for “beginner to intermediate” and would take “1-2 days”. I got a good laugh out of that. I am intermediate to advanced in sewing and it took me almost three months to finish. I won’t link the website because they don’t need your traffic, but if you want to admire the original post again, here it is!
