Featured on a Podcast!

Earlier this week, The Habit Podcast featured a story that I wrote! You can listen here to mine and four other stories by writers from the Habit Membership. Mine is the last story featured. If you enjoy the episode, you can continue following along. There are more episodes in the Hometown Stories series still to come this summer.

I was so excited to get this prompt for hometown stories. I love being a local in my city. Though I’ve lived away from my hometown temporarily a few times, it sure feels like home. I love its “just right” size, am fascinated by its history, and am a proud supporter of the revitalized downtown businesses and events. I’m also aware of what makes it so unique (and even quirky). The story featured on the podcast, about a matchmaking bank teller, is only one of the stories that came to mind when receiving this prompt. I will share more of the stories brewing on my blog later!

What’s special about your hometown? Do you love it? Hate it? Have you grown to appreciate it from a distance?

  1. I’ve lived in Lynchburg since 1969 but it is not my home. I’m from Staunton and, whenever I need to be revived, I go back to Staunton for the day. The home I grew up in is still there and I ride by to see what the new owners have done or not done. I go to Gypsy Hill Park if the weather is nice. There is a beautiful pond with swans and ducks. I remember being there as a child. I wouldn’t want to live in Staunton now; it’s too small. But I love going back to regenerate.
