Published!

An exciting thing happened yesterday. One of my poems was published to an online publication called Calla Press! You can read it here. This is the first time my work has been published beyond my personal blog and small, private publications.

And…Calla Press is including another one of my poems in their annual print journal this spring! If you are interested in receiving a copy, pre orders can be placed here. The journal will ship in March.

As I know some of you are probably wondering about the details, I submitted these two poems back in September and heard back from the publication shortly before Christmas. I also submitted work (poems, essays, and works of fiction) to a few other publications last year without hearing back. I was not paid for these contributions, so I have yet to hit that milestone, but I am still very happy to have reached this milestone.

I’m encouraged to continue to submit my work to more online and print publications. Submitting queries and proposals is its own skill which I want to develop more. Of course, I will also continue to develop my writing skills through critique groups, classes, and practice. The Habit Membership has been a great place for that! In March, I am looking forward to attending a writing conference called HopeWords with a local writing friend.

If you enjoy my writing, I would really appreciate your help. If you haven’t already, you can follow my blog by email to make sure you don’t miss posts because of social media algorithms. If you’re on a computer, the place to enter your email address is on the right side of your screen. If you are on a mobile device, keep scrolling down below the comments and categories to enter your email. You will only receive an email when I post (my goal is once a week) and you can decide from the title if that week’s post will be of interest to you or not. I post a wide range of material from fiction, to philosophical musings, to art and sewing projects so I don’t expect every post to appeal to everyone.

It also is a big help to me if you would “like,” share, and/or comment on my work, either on the blog itself or on social media.

Thanks so much for your encouragement, friends!
