Vintage Shoe Haul

A friend recently listed for sale several pairs of vintage shoes she had found in the attic of her house. Though I love vintage clothes, I have never tried to get any vintage shoes because almost all of them are heels. I almost completely quit wearing heels after living in Mexico because of the risk of twisting an ankle there. These were so pretty and mostly low heels…and they all fit me! My friend gave me a great deal on five pairs.

I took this pair to the cobbler to have new insoles put in. The lady who helped me said they were very old and had been made in the Craddock and Terry factory in Lynchburg. She knew because her husband had worked for the factory and Auditions was a brand manufactured there. Brand: Auditions, Size 7, man made outer, vinyl lining

This black and white pair is my favorite. They also received new insoles at the cobblers. I could not find anything about the brand on the internet, which makes me think the shoes must be quite old. Styled by Moe of Lesnar’s, Size 7, vinyl and buck

This brown skin pair is just gorgeous. This was the highest pair of heels, but they are surprisingly comfortable. They seem to have more room for your heel to rest. I made the mistake of wearing these before oiling them, but took them off before any serious damage was done. I ended up buying a lotion that would work for leather and exotic (reptile) leathers so that they shone nicely and hopefully won’t crack anymore. Brand: Valley Shoes, Size not listed

These have to be the most perfectly shaped shoes I’ve ever seen.

Here is another pair of exotic leather which benefited from a quick shine. These look like alligator skin, probably from the late 50s or early 60s. The slogan on the box makes me laugh! Brand: Naturalizer, Size 7

Vintage skirt and mink scarf also featured

The final pair is simple, but sweet. They have a low heel and black matte finish. They were in good shape with only a few scuffs I fixed with a sharpie. Brand: Selby, Size 7

Since I’m hoping all of these shoes will be a regular part of my wardrobe, I’m putting them on my regular shoe shelf. I stored the boxes in plain sight above my coats in the closet/half bath. If anyone knows anything more about these brands or possible dates for these shoes, I’d be curious to know!
