On the 12th Day of Christmas…

I will honour Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year.- Charles Dickens

I know this is the 11th hour (with the Christmas season officially ending today), but I wanted to share how I decorated my house for Christmas and how I celebrated this year. Since this was my first year having my own house, it was fun having a blank canvas to decorate however I wanted. I didn’t have much in terms of décor, but my house is…cozy, so small touches made the biggest impact.

I put up a couple little wooden villages (yard sale finds) that I thought were really charming. I also decked the halls with some real evergreen when I noticed some neighbors had been tree trimming. This year my students loved the song Deck the Halls!

The tree was primarily decorated with ornaments from my childhood, souvenirs I had picked up traveling, as well as gifts from recent years. I added some handmade touches with a garland out of fabric yoyos (which I didn’t finish until 2 days before Christmas). I also really enjoyed making dried citrus ornaments with my mom. They smell so good!

Thank you to everyone who gave me a gift or sent a card to make the Christmas season special. I wish I could have shared time with more of you. I’m thankful that I was able to spend a lot of time with my family at their home. We also took a New Year’s retreat to NC with some great winter hiking, board games, and enjoying The Mandalorian together. Looking forward to the new year!
